This fall we have been playing a Box Top Sorry Game, each class has been assigned a color team. I haven't thought to keep parents updated until just today, so here is how the game is going up until today. (Just quickly, the teams move around the board when Box Tops are turned in, for every 10 the team moves 2 spaces. When a class or a team turns in 100 Bonus Box Tops they get to SORRY another team, move to their spot on the board and send that team back to start.)
We had a couple of SORRY's today, the first in a little bit. So sad for the GREEN Team though, Mrs. Huntsman's AM class and Mrs. Ferguson's class were both sent back to start. (It is at least the 2nd or 3rd time for both of these classes. SORRY!!)
Both the BLUE & RED Teams have 4 classes in their HOME, they both also have 2 teams out on the board. Each of these teams have 6 classes on their teams.
Both the YELLOW & GREEN have 2 classes in their HOME, and they have 3 teams out on the board. Each of these teams only have 5 classes on their teams.
The classes at HOME are BLUE; Egan, Lycan, Grigg, Reyes. RED; Haynes, Oberhansley, Quiroz, Petersen. YELLOW; Drouin, Johnston. GREEN; Vogt, Dixon.
The classes out on the board are BLUE; Day PM and Pincock. RED; Egbert. YELLOW; Huntsman PM, Johnson, Day AM. GREEN; Koepplin.
The classes in their START are RED; Hardy. GREEN; Huntsman AM and Ferguson.
We have had over 10, 000 Box Tops turned in right now ($1,000), last year at the end of October we had 18,000, ($1,800). I would like to get close or exceed that if we can again this year!
There will be another Box Top sale at Albertson's starting on the 12th to the 18th of October if you haven't had a chance to stalk up yet. They will give you a 25 Box Top Bonus and a 10 Box Top Bonus and $5 off (instantly) when you buy 10 General Mills participating products. Albertson's is more than happy to let you pay for 10 items and then another 10 items until you get through. That way you will continue to get 35 Bonus Box Tops and $5 off for each 10 items. If you ring them all through at the same time you only get the savings once. If you haven't registered at www.growinglocallearning.com you should! It is Albertson's Box Top site and they will give us 5 Box Tops for everyone that signs up, lots of great info too!!
It would be great if you could ask grandparents, or other family or friends to collect Box Tops for you too! All the money that is collected by Box Tops goes directly to your child's teacher at Cloverdale. They can spend it on needed classroom supplies.
HAPPY COLLECTING!

VolunteerSpot
I found this website that helps organize volunteers for different needs at the school. I'm not sure if it's going to be helpful or not, so will you test it out with me? I sent some of you an email, but for those of you who follow the blog I wanted to try it this way. Click on the link below and check out the sign up system and let me know what you think. More of a hassle? Easy or hard to use?

Thanks!!!

It's summer!
What a great time for a rummage sale! Here is a message from Lisa, the PTO President, about the upcoming event:
I need some help the week before the Rummage sale, which will be held on June 12th, in the back school parking lot. I sent out a flier letting people know that they can drop off donations Monday, June 7, - Friday,June 11, from 5 -7 pm. And also on Friday morning from 10 - noon, as well.
What I need:
*Someone to be at the trailer in the parking lot Mon - Friday, from 5 -7pm. (Especially Tue & Thurs)
(They will take donations, price sticker items, and stack in trailer).
*Volunteers to help make posters such as: Men's clothes, Housewares, Sporting goods, Kids clothes, etc. (I can get a full list later)
*Anyone willing to take on one of those "departments" to help with laying out on sale day, and with pricing.
*Help to set up at 7:00 am June 12th.
*Cashiers through the sale day. Maybe 2 hour shifts? 8-10, 10-12, 12 -2.
*Hagler over prices?
*Pack up/Clean up/Haul off after 2pm.
*Publicity - list add in paper, on-line. Posters at the corners?
For any of you that know where my house is, you are welcome to drop off donations before that.
Thank you.
Lisa
Also, don't forget about the summer library time. It starts June 23rd and is every Wednesday until July 28th from 10 a.m. to noon with story time at 11 a.m. We'll be having a reading challenge with prizes, so come join Camp Read-a-lot!
If you have any questions or would like to help with the rummage sale, leave a comment and I'll get the message to Lisa. Thanks!!

Busy week!
Don't forget, we've got two big things going on this week:
Family Math and Reading Night: Thursday, April 15th at 6:30 p.m. Fun for the whole family with a special "Adventures in Reading" activity especially for 2nd and 3rd graders!
Cloverdale Craft Fair: Saturday, April 17th from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. There will be a wide variety of things to buy, eat and even exchange (at the book exchange! Bring books you're ready to part with and get "new" ones!). Hope to see you there!
Just FYI, here is a link to the minutes of the last PTO meeting. Everyone is always welcome to attend!
April PTO Minutes
Did you see those volunteer hours? That's just for the months of January through March! You amazing people blow me away!
We're trying something new for these last couple of months of the school year. There will be a "Cloverdale Cowboys Classifieds" bulletin board inside the school with descriptions of jobs that need to be done throughout the school that volunteers could help with. Look for that in the next couple of weeks.
If you have any questions just leave a comment and someone will get back to you. Thanks!

Happy Spring!
It doesn't look very springy outside, but we're heading into the last two months of school! Here are some things to look forward to:
Thursday, April 8th at 3:30 is the PTO meeting: Everyone is welcome! We're always looking for new ideas, so come and join the fun!
Thursday, April 15th at 6:30 p.m. is a family math and reading night. Look for more info coming home this week. The district received a Micron Math Fun d'Mentals activity kit through a grant that provides games and fun activities for parents and kids to do together to become more successful at math.
Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon: end of April. . .look for more specifics to come!
Have you ever wanted to be more involved, or know someone who does, but you're reluctant to do it? Here's a great article that explains just how much you are not only needed, but really wanted in our PTO:
http://www.ptotoday.com/pto-today-articles/article/479-one-last-dance
If you have any questions or ideas, please leave a comment and we'll get back to you ASAP.
Have a wonderful week!

For the week of March 8th through 12th
A few things to know about this week:
All week long is Spirit Week, so check the newsletter that came home a few days ago for the dress up days. There are fun things that will be going on during lunch, and there will be prizes for the classes who have the most kids participating in the dress up days. Friday there will be a family movie night (check back later on for more details!), with treats available to purchase. More details are also on the school website:
http://www3.d93.k12.id.us/schools/elementary-schools/cloverdale-elementary.aspx
Check the school website often, it gets updated all the time.
We're still wrapping up the fundraiser and determining our top donation earners, so if you've got donations send them in. We'll be passing out prizes this week during lunch, and classrooms who met their goals will get a doughnut party!
Monday is Kindergarten Roundup from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. (don't forget! it's also early release!).
The KC Club (Kindness and Compassion--it's a service club for the 5th and 6th graders) has started a recycling program. If you have paper, newspaper or magazines you'd like to recycle you can bring them to the school and drop them off in the boxes in the commons area.
Thanks for all you do to make Cloverdale a great school!

Read-a-thon!
Don't forget, the read-a-thon officially ended last night, February 24th. Gather your pledges and return them to your child's teacher as soon as you can. There will be prizes for participation, reaching individual reading goals and for the top five donation gatherers.
Thanks for supporting your PTO! All of the money goes right back into the school and benefits the kids, so it's a great cause!
