It's summer!

What a great time for a rummage sale!  Here is a message from Lisa, the PTO President, about the upcoming event:

I need some help the week before the Rummage sale, which will be held on June 12th, in the back school parking lot. I sent out a flier letting people know that they can drop off donations Monday, June 7, - Friday,June 11, from 5 -7 pm. And also on Friday morning from 10 - noon, as well.

What I need:

*Someone to be at the trailer in the parking lot Mon - Friday, from 5 -7pm. (Especially Tue & Thurs)
(They will take donations, price sticker items, and stack in trailer).

*Volunteers to help make posters such as: Men's clothes, Housewares, Sporting goods, Kids clothes, etc. (I can get a full list later)

*Anyone willing to take on one of those "departments" to help with laying out on sale day, and with pricing.

*Help to set up at 7:00 am June 12th.

*Cashiers through the sale day. Maybe 2 hour shifts? 8-10, 10-12, 12 -2.

*Hagler over prices?

*Pack up/Clean up/Haul off after 2pm.

*Publicity - list add in paper, on-line. Posters at the corners?

For any of you that know where my house is, you are welcome to drop off donations before that.

Thank you.
Lisa

Also, don't forget about the summer library time.  It starts June 23rd and is every Wednesday until July 28th from 10 a.m. to noon with story time at 11 a.m.  We'll be having a reading challenge with prizes, so come join Camp Read-a-lot!

If you have any questions or would like to help with the rummage sale, leave a comment and I'll get the message to Lisa.  Thanks!!

Busy week!

Don't forget, we've got two big things going on this week:

Family Math and Reading Night: Thursday, April 15th at 6:30 p.m.  Fun for the whole family with a special "Adventures in Reading" activity especially for 2nd and 3rd graders!

Cloverdale Craft Fair:  Saturday, April 17th from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m.  There will be a wide variety of things to buy, eat and even exchange (at the book exchange!  Bring books you're ready to part with and get "new" ones!).  Hope to see you there!

Just FYI, here is a link to the minutes of the last PTO meeting.  Everyone is always welcome to attend!

April PTO Minutes

Did you see those volunteer hours?  That's just for the months of January through March!  You amazing people blow me away!

We're trying something new for these last couple of months of the school year.  There will be a "Cloverdale Cowboys Classifieds" bulletin board inside the school with descriptions of jobs that need to be done throughout the school that volunteers could help with.  Look for that in the next couple of weeks.

If you have any questions just leave a comment and someone will get back to you.  Thanks!

Happy Spring!

It doesn't look very springy outside, but we're heading into the last two months of school!  Here are some things to look forward to:

Thursday, April 8th at 3:30 is the PTO meeting:  Everyone is welcome!  We're always looking for new ideas, so come and join the fun!

Thursday, April 15th at 6:30 p.m. is a family math and reading night.  Look for more info coming home this week.  The district received a Micron Math Fun d'Mentals activity kit through a grant that provides games and fun activities for parents and kids to do together to become more successful at math.

Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon:  end of April. . .look for more specifics to come!

Have you ever wanted to be more involved, or know someone who does, but you're reluctant to do it?  Here's a great article that explains just how much you are not only needed, but really wanted in our PTO:

If you have any questions or ideas, please leave a comment and we'll get back to you ASAP.

Have a wonderful week!

For the week of March 8th through 12th

A few things to know about this week:

All week long is Spirit Week, so check the newsletter that came home a few days ago for the dress up days.  There are fun things that will be going on during lunch, and there will be prizes for the classes who have the most kids participating in the dress up days.  Friday there will be a family movie night (check back later on for more details!), with treats available to purchase.  More details are also on the school website:

http://www3.d93.k12.id.us/schools/elementary-schools/cloverdale-elementary.aspx

Check the school website often, it gets updated all the time.

We're still wrapping up the fundraiser and determining our top donation earners, so if you've got donations send them in.  We'll be passing out prizes this week during lunch, and classrooms who met their goals will get a doughnut party!

Monday is Kindergarten Roundup from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. (don't forget!  it's also early release!).

The KC Club (Kindness and Compassion--it's a service club for the 5th and 6th graders) has started a recycling program.  If you have paper, newspaper or magazines you'd like to recycle you can bring them to the school and drop them off in the boxes in the commons area.

Thanks for all you do to make Cloverdale a great school!

Read-a-thon!

Don't forget, the read-a-thon officially ended last night, February 24th.  Gather your pledges and return them to your child's teacher as soon as you can.  There will be prizes for participation, reaching individual reading goals and for the top five donation gatherers.

Thanks for supporting your PTO!  All of the money goes right back into the school and benefits the kids, so it's a great cause!

Read-a-thon Fundraiser!!

February 1st through the 24th the PTO is having a fundraiser that will hopefully get our kids reading, too!  Just like if you were doing a walk-a-thon and get pledges for finishing the miles, your kids can get pledges for making their reading goals.  Look for the goal/pledge sheets to come home soon and get those pledges.    Remember, our first concern is always the safety of our kids so we're discouraging door-to-door collecting.  You could ask friends, family (grandparents love this stuff!)  :), co-workers, etc.  There will be prizes for individual and class accomplishments, and nobody is left out--there are participation prizes for anyone who gives it their best!

If you have any questions, please leave a comment or come to the PTO meeting this Thursday, 4 p.m. at Cloverdale.

Thanks!!

Snowballs of Kindness

Dear Cloverdale Elementary Parents,

I am excited to start the Box Tops Snowballs of Kindness again this year! I think that the kids are excited too just by the response I have received in two weeks, 2,800 Box Tops turned in already!

I think that the fun of this contest is throwing the Snowballs of Kindness. It is great to look for the good in others and letting them know that you noticed! Please encourage your kids to look for the good in people and also to be nice to those around them.

Every class that meets the goal of 100 Box Tops will be invited to the Snow Ball. The Snow Ball will be on Friday, February 19th. The kids will have until the 18th to get all their Box Tops in. Many classes have already surpassed this goal and that is fantastic, keep sending the Box Tops in! You can check the poster at the school to see where your class is. The poster is right in the Commons Room, check it out!!

I want to clarify that the Snow Ball will be a dance that will be fun for everyone! We will teach the kids some fun group dances like The Hokey Pokey, YMCA, or a line dance or two. I do not want anyone left out and am not intending to have boy/girl dances (enough of that later right.) We will probably have a couple of different sessions, lower grades in the morning and upper grades in the afternoon or something. All of the details still need to be worked out but it will be lots of fun!

If you have any other questions or if you would be interested in helping with the dance, please feel free to contact me! You can e-mail me at cloverdaleboxtops@gmail.com.
